How many states have bans on smoking in public places?
How many states have firearm laws to protect children?
How many states have laws addressing childhood obesity?
The answers to these and other questions can be found at Kaiser Family Foundation, a non-profit portal that offers easy access to 50 state comparison data on Demographics and the Ecomony, Health Status, Health Coverage & Uninsured, Medicaid, Managed Care and Health Insurance, Minority Health, and Women’s Health, Children’s Health, and HIV/AIDS.
Visitors can create customized fact sheets on Children’s Health and see how individual states compare to the US. Breastfeeding data collected through the National Immunization Survey show the percentage of children ever breastfed, those breastfed at 6 and 12 months, and those breastfed exclusively at 3 and 6 months. The NIS data can also be accessed through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
