The collective efforts of Action for Healthy Kids Teams reach millions of American students each year, helping to improve their nutrition and increase their physical activity through school-based change.
The Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004 mandates that school districts establish ˜wellness policies’ “ guidelines for school nutrition and physical activity. Many Action for Healthy Kids’ Teams are working with districts in their states to help them draft these policies, and Action for Healthy Kids has created a comprehensive web-based Wellness Policy Tool.
The Action for Healthy Kids website has recently been redesigned for easier navigation and access to its many resources including reports and publications, online tools for Game On!, and Wellness Policies, and the resources database. The new Team Member Center is publicly accessible and serves as a hub of information for Team members to find resources specific to a Team, the latest news and resources from the national office, and featured resources from Partner organizations. The Team Leader Login page is devoted to resources that will support Team Leaders with action planning, fund-raising, accounting, and public relations.
Those involved in the fight against childhood obesity won’t want to miss this exciting resource.

Thanks for telling your readers about Action for Healthy Kids! I was privileged to be at that 2002 Summit, which was unlike any other conference I’d ever been to, in that each attendee was expected to be part of her or his state team. And the state teams were given goals and objectives. This organization isn’t about bemoaning everything that’s wrong and then making a half-hearted effort to do something about it. As its title indicates, it’s about taking action!
