Expecting? Check out this newsletter

Lamaze International has introduced a new (free!) weekly email newsletter for expectant moms and dads, featuring information, tips, research briefs, and inspirational stories aimed at guiding families from pregnancy and beyond.

By signing up with your name, email address, and estimated due date, you’ll be treated to a customized newsletter with information and stories appropriate to your current stage of pregnancy. A pretty handy tool, I think, since I remember finding myself skimming pregnancy magazines for stories that applied to me and my growing baby (and skipping those that didn’t)!

“Through this new tool we hope to communicate to women that pregnancy and birth are normal and healthy events, by building confidence in themselves and their bodies,” said Lamaze International President Alison Walsh, IBCLC, LCCE, FACCE, in a release announcing the launch of the newsletter.

So, what can expectant parents expect from the newsletter?

  • A positive focus on health and wellness (speak to your doctor if you have concerns regarding pregnancy complications.)
  • A major confidence booster! Lamaze International will honor you and the pretty amazing work your body is doing, and help you understand your rights to safe maternity care and full information.
  • (And perhaps most refreshing of all) No formula ads. None. You read that right! Lamaze International will comply with the World Health Organization’s International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes, which means bottles, pacifiers, and formula companies won’t be competing for your attention while you try to focus on you and your baby.

If you ask me, I think it all sounds like a pretty good deal, all around. The information is free, convenient, and customized just for you.
